This swimming competition begins early in the morning, with the best national and international swimmers swimming around Cuicocha Lagoon, 5000 meters. This event is organized by the Cotacachi City Hall and sponsored by TINCUICEM. The competitors can enter different age categories: 13-14 years old, 15-17, 18-24, and over 24. A children’s competition is also held with 9-10 and 11-12 years-old categories. This competition departs from the islands to the dock, a 800 m long swim.
